Section of Bridge and Tunnel
Engineering
The Bridge and Tunnel Engineering
Section is one of the foundation Sections of the
Department of Civil Engineering, which was also one
of the foundation Departments of the University when
UCT was
first established in 1962. In recent years, it has
been playing the most important role in the
development of the University.
A
strong and enthusiastic
staff team is
the key factor in our development strategy with two
Associate Professors, four PhDs, eight MScs (Eng.)
and other ten young lecturers who are currently
doing their postgraduate courses both in Vietnam and
abroad.
We provide undergraduate
courses in the following majors: Bridge
and Tunnel Engineering, Bridge and Road Engineering,
Bridge and Railway Engineering, and Tunnel and Metro
Engineering. Postgraduate courses (MSc.Eng, PhD) are
available in the major Bridge and Tunnel
Engineering. In addition, we provide consultation
services in all aspects of transport engineering.
Research projects
are also an indispensable part in our activities.
We have a close link with the
industry. Our staff has been contributing to the
major projects in Vietnam transport engineering such as Can
Tho, Bai Chay, Thanh Tri, Vinh Tuy Bridge Projects,
the National Highway No.1, No.10, No.18 Rehabilitation
Projects, Lang-Hoa Lac Highway Project, Ho Chi Minh
Highway Project; etc. Activities include:
consultation on assessing the design of new
infrastructure projects; bridge testing and
verification of existing or newly-built bridges;
repair and rehabilitation of existing bridges
using state-of-the-art technologies, etc. Our strong
points are an excellent team of experts and modern,
professional equipments.
Research activities in our Section
include both fundamental and applied aspects of
Transport Engineering. More focused is on the
implementation of new technologies in transport
engineering practice in Vietnam. Further information
about our research could be viewed in
Research
area of this website.
For the excellent contributions to the development
and implementation of the transport engineering
system in Vietnam, the Section of Bridge and Tunnel
Engineering has been awarded two Nation’s Labour
